We now finally have our very first teaser trailer for the highly anticipated vampire series The Strain, from Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan. It’s nice to finally catch a glimpse of the show despite the fact that it’s only a teaser. The source material is extremely dark which is exactly what this teaser points to as an eclipse blankets New York City in darkness, leaving only a disturbing message behind: He is here… Continue Reading…
Archives For Series
I’ve been keeping tabs on the small screen adaptation of Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan’s The Strain since it was announced a while back, and now—many months later and an impressive cast all lined up—we finally have the show’s first official stills! The show is based on a trilogy that was written by both Del Toro and Hogan and it features not only a unique take on vampires, but blood suckers that are evil enough to make your skin crawl. One of the new stills gives us a look at the very moment in the story that sets everything in motion as the CDC discovers something horrifying on a plane. Continue Reading…

Time traveling serial killer series being adapted by Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way?
Per THR, MRC and Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way are teaming up to adapt The Shining Girls, written by Lauren Beukes and generating buzz as one of this summer’s must-reads. The two companies, however, are not aiming for a feature adaptation but rather intend to develop the project for television. It’s a wicked sounding novel that goes a little something like this: Continue Reading…

New Under the Dome poster tugs at the heart strings
June 24th is almost here and that means CBS’ upcoming adaptation of Stephen Kings Under the Dome is almost upon us, and with that we’ve got a new one-sheet featuring a boy separated from his dog by just a single depressing inch. I love this poster. It captures the idea of being trapped under this invisible dome and how you can be so close to the outside world while being so far away. It’s simple and very effective. Well done! Continue Reading…
It’s hard to believe that we have a little less than a month until CBS unleashes their TV adaptation of Stephen King’s Under the Dome. With the premiere date getting that much closer, The Master of Horror recently talked with Parade Magazine where he spilled some thoughts on the upcoming series along with some of the stories that scared him when he was a kid. Stephen King's 11/22/63 being brought to the small screen by J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot
As a huge fan of Stephen King’s thrilling novel 11/22/63 I was pretty bummed out when the whispers of an adaptation began to die down but today we’ve got some pretty great news regarding the project. According to Deadline it looks like J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot is currently in negations for the rights to King’s bestselling 2011 novel 11/22/63. The transaction is being done through Warner Bros. TV, where Bad Robot is under a deal. The plan is to adapt the book as a TV series or miniseries, likely for cable.
11/22/63 centers on Jake, an unassuming divorced English teacher who stumbles upon a time portal that leads to 9/9/1958 and goes on a quest to try and prevent the assassination of John F. Kennedy, which occurred on 11/22/1963.
Now that Under the Dome is underway it’s not at all surprising to see news of another King novel getting the small screen treatment. This is another one of King’s stories that is best suited for television simply because there are just so many storylines going on throughout the novel that it would be nearly impossible to properly tell the story as a feature length film. I’m really excited to see this one come to life because it’s such a unique premise and King’s take on time-travel is pretty damn cool!

TV adaptation of Guillermo del Toro's The Strain finds leading man
We haven’t really heard a whole lot from FX’s adaptation of Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan’s vampire tale The Strain but it looks like things are starting to pick up as Deadline reports that Corey Stoll (below) has landed a leading role in the series.
Carlton Cuse of Bates Motel is acting as showrunner on the pilot which will be directed by Guillermo del Toro himself from a script he co-wrote with Chuck Hogan. The Strain formally has a pilot order but FX president John Landgraf has indicated it is being eyed for a series order. The project already has a full writing staff in place churning out scripts so there’s definitely a good chance we’ll see a solid run for the series. I really enjoyed the novels and each one gets darker than the next so hopefully this thing proves to be successful because FX could really have a hit on their hands.
When a Boeing 777 lands at JFK International Airport and goes dark on the runway, the Centers for Disease Control, fearing a terrorist attack, calls in Dr. Ephraim Goodweather and his team of expert biological-threat first responders. Only an elderly pawnbroker from Spanish Harlem suspects a darker purpose behind the event – an ancient threat intent on covering mankind in darkness.
Wes Craven's Scream to become a TV series
According to THR it looks like MTV is going to move forward with a pilot based on Wes Craven’s Scream franchise. So whether you wanted a Scream television series or not, it’s definitely happening and it might even see Craven himself direct the pilot — which would actually be pretty damn cool.
The series will be produced with Dimension Films as MTV currently looks for writers for the one-hour project. If it gets a series order, the show would be slated for a summer 2014 launch and will see it joining the likes of “Teen Wolf” and “Awkward”.
I’m pretty confident that this will get a full series order simply because the franchise is so damn popular. Not only have we been seeing a ton of horror themed shows coming to the small screen as of late, but they’ve actually been successful which tells us that people are really digging what the horror genre has to offer. Hopefully, if we do see a full series order for Scream, it finds the same success as MTV’s other shows because it’d be pretty wicked to see the franchise thrive as a tv series.

Dean Norris Lands Villain Role in ‘Under the Dome’!
Casting for CBS’ upcoming Stephen King adapted series Under the Dome has been rolling in at a steady pace over the last few weeks. All of the names attached so far were all just leading up to this one — the villainous role. According to TV Line, the evil character of Big Jim will be played by Breaking Bad’s Dean Norris and what a pleasant surprise it is. He’s a very charismatic actor who does one helluva job on Breaking Bad so I couldn’t be happier with this news. Continue Reading…
