Anyone who has seen James Wan’s The Conjuring will no doubt remember the few scenes in which the terrifying Annabelle doll graced the screen. And although she played a very small part in the film, that didn’t stop Warner Bros. and New Line from creating a spinoff that would take the creepy doll and make her the centerpiece of her very own horror feature. Annabelle, from director John R. Leonett—who was The Conjuring‘s director of photography—has been slated with an October 3rd, 2014 release date, reports Deadline. That’s pretty damn soon.
There are almost no details on Annabelle at this point, but with a release date not far off I’d imagine we’ll be hearing plenty more about this one in the coming months. What do you guys think? Do you think Annabelle was creepy enough to carry her own film? It’ll be interesting to see what kind of response this film gets once it hits theaters because with the way the supernatural genre has been looking lately, Annabelle might not have as big of an impact on audiences as the studio thinks. Time will tell, folks!
Starring in the film is Annabelle Wallis (The Tudors) and Ward Horton (One Life to Live) in lead roles, with Alfre Woodard (True Blood) co-starring.

Awesome! That doll was the scariest part of the movie. (The part where homegirl fell into the basement was a close second.)
It’s amazing how much the doll stuck with people after the film despite the fact that she’s hardly in it. My favorite part of the movie is the final exorcism scene. Great stuff!

The opening sequence in “The Conjuring” with Annabell turned my blood cold for a moment; it just felt so genuinely creepy with the pounding on the door, etc. I am definitely looking forward to this. I hope they took the time and carved out a nice script and story and didn’t just rush this to get it out by October; if that were the case take your time and release in 2015.
Yeah, I hope so as well. The Conjuring 2 has a 2015 release in October though, so that’s probably why they’re trying to get Annabelle out this year.
The doll is definitely creepy, but what’s the story going to be about? If you already posted this information, sorry, I’m not always up-to-date on things I enjoy. Is it going to be the ‘true’ story behind the doll or is going to be something from the mind of ______? That will probably determine my level of excitement (thinking The Langoliers movie type disaster that might unfortunately happen with this).
That’s a good question, actually. They haven’t given up any details on the film to this point. I’d be surprised if they didn’t pull the “true story” angle on this one so I’m assuming that it will at least feature some elements of the true story kind of like The Conjuring did. With a release date so soon, I’m sure we’ll be finding out exactly what it’s about soon enough. Hang in there!

I personally think this is a terrible idea. The doll wasn’t that scary. Not to me. lol
It doesn’t have to be a terrible idea though. If they try to sell it as some kind of Conjuring sequel, however, then it will fail. Also, it sounds like they rushed the film so who knows how its going to turn out.
What’s so intriguing is that they briefly tell her story in the movie, so much so that they leave us wondering about how the roommates came across the doll, what kinds of things did they experience, etc. There’s so much that they can tell or detail. I’m looking forward to this film!
Yeah, I would definitely have to agree with you there. I think that’s why so many people found her creepy is because she’s hardly used but when she is it’s pretty damn creepy.
