Grand Piano is a masterful thriller from director Eugenio Mira who channels his inner Hitchcock with a nerve shattering tale of man who quite literally has to play the concert of his life. Elijah Wood plays Tom Selznick, the most gifted pianist of his generation who gave up on performing due to his stage fright. Five years after a catastrophic performance, Selznick makes his long-awaited return in front of a packed theater. But only moments before his comeback performance, he discovers a note written on his music sheet: “Play one wrong note and you die.” Truly a setup that the Master of Suspense himself would appreciate. Archives For Elijah Wood
Jaw Shaw, you brilliant bastard. The talented mind behind the festival one-sheet for the Elijah Wood-starring horror comedy, Cooties, is none other than Mr. Jay Shaw who has been laying his unmatched artistic vision down on canvas for quite some time now. I talked a little bit about Cooties back at the beginning of December so this one outta still be fresh in your minds as it pits a bunch of elementary school teachers against savage pre-adolescent children. It’s a quite ridiculous sounding little indie flick from directors Jonathan Millott and Cary Murnion who are bringing Leigh Whannell and Ian Brennan’s script to life. The poster was created for the film’s festival run at Sundance which will see it’s World premiere this month as part of the Midnight selection. Continue Reading…
Elijah Wood has the worst kind of stage fright in the first official trailer for Grand Piano
And here we all that Elijah Wood’s main skill was the ability to scalp beautiful, unsuspecting women! In Eugenio Mira’s thriller Grand Piano, Wood must play the concert of his life because one wrong note will be the death of him. And when John Cusack tells you to do something, you do it! I can’t even begin to tell you guys how excited I am to see this flick. I’ve put off writing about the film here on the site because I was waiting for a trailer like this to come along so you would all understand how I could be excited about a movie that features a guy playing the shit out of a piano! Now that it’s here, it doesn’t disappoint—I’m definitely getting some Hitchcockian vibes from this one! Continue Reading…
Everyone knows that little kids can be a real pain in the ass sometimes, but what are they like when infected with a virus that turns them into brain-dead murderers? Well, that’s something we’re all about to find out as Elijah Wood and a gang of elementary school teachers take on a swarm of children hungry for man flesh in the upcoming horror-comedy Cooties. With a premise like that, they honestly couldn’t have come up with a more suitable title! Continue Reading…

Amazing third poster for Maniac is a reflection of murder

IFC releases a gorgeous Drive inspired Maniac poster
IFC is showing off their beauty of a new poster for Franck Khalfoun’s fantastic stylistic slasher Maniac. I’ve been a fan of just about all of the posters so far for the film but this one takes the cake as it shows Elijah Wood standing in the iconic pose with a handful of beautiful blonde hair. Very cool! Check out my review for the film right here! Continue Reading…
Franck Khalfoun’s Maniac is a stylishly brutal horror film that wraps its bloody hands around your throat and never lets go. Khalfoun’s remake centers around a serial killer with a fetish for scalps who is on the hunt. Frank is the withdrawn owner of a mannequin store, but his life changes when young artist Anna appears asking for his help with her new exhibition. As their friendship develops and Frank’s obsession escalates, it becomes clear that she has unleashed a long-repressed compulsion to stalk and kill. Continue Reading…

Maniac gets an official theatrical poster
Bloody Disgusting got ahold of the official theatrical poster for Franck Khalfoun’s Maniac and it’s pretty damn cool. Elijah Wood stars in the remake as he takes on the terrifying lead role of a serial killer with a fetish for scalps. The film will open in select theaters, iTunes and VOD platforms on June 21st. AICN got their hands on the first look at Jeff Proctor’s wicked looking poster for Franck Khalfoun’s Maniac remake and it’s easily one of my favorite posters to come out of Mondo this year. The poster is a fantastic tribute to the original one-sheet and I think you guys are really going to dig it. Continue Reading…
