Written and directed by Cameron and Colin Cairnes, 100 Bloody Acres is a blood splattered blast that seamlessly blends comedy into the horror genre. This marks their first feature film together and it follows two brothers, Reg and Lindsay Morgan, who are struggling to keep their organic blood and bone fertilizer business in motion. Their secret “recipe” for success was a huge boom to business, but lately supply has been gravely low. When Reg stumbles upon 3 travelers stranded on the side of the road, he comes up with a ridiculous solution to their problem, and a way of finally gaining the respect of his big brother.

The film is pretty straight forward and never once tries to be anything more than what it is; 90 minutes of solid entertainment that reels in laugh after laugh while dangling you over a meat grinder — what more could you want? The story may be simple but it’s fueled so heavily by its fantastic characters and their performances that the whole thing comes to life in a fantastic way — once it starts you wont be able to take your eyes off the screen. There’s never a dull moment as the film winds through enough twists and turns that you’ll always be wondering what’s going to happen next.

What’s so great about 100 Bloody Acres is that none of the characters are simply there to add to the body count. Each of them have their own unique personalities and quirks that you can’t help but love some of them and hate others. Hell, the one likely hero in the entire film ends up dropping acid just before shit hits the fan, so you know you’re going to be in for a real treat. It’s such a simple thing, yet it adds an entire level of humor to the flick that plays out brilliantly. The character of Reg really steals the show as he’s trapped between his want of doing the right thing versus keeping his partner in crime, Lindsay, happy. You never know what this guy is going to do next but you’re definitely going to want to find out.

It has that simple and undeniable charm that only a great horror comedy can pull off, and it does it effortlessly while throwing blood in your face. It’s never over the top with its gore but there’s just enough to keep horror fans smiling all the way through. 100 Bloody Acres is everything you want it to be — it’s darkly entertaining and a blood soaked ride into the lives of a couple of hillbilly psychos. If you’re looking for a wickedly entertaining film that will have you cringing one moment and laughing the next then look no further as 100 Bloody Acres will no doubt leave you satisfied.

I honestly believe that if you were ever attacked by a gorilla that you should just sit back and relax while you enjoy the once in a life time feeling of having each of your limbs ripped off.

Dude, awesome review. I saw this myself earlier today and will have a review up later in the week. Which could basically just be the exact same as yours, because we feel pretty much exactly the same about this flick.

THEY FIND YA… THEY GRIND YA! “A Blood soaked blast”! With that tagline, that review headline, and the title 100 Bloody Acres? We are SOLD! We wish we could offer an opinions (or, hey, we dunno, a review but since we haven’t been able to find the flick on VOD (all our research showed it was available on VOD/iTunes, but no dice here), here’s a great review by Ryan from Rhino’s Horror. Check out the trailer, too!
