Open Grave, from director Gonzalo López-Gallego, injects new life into an exhausted genre that will tear your mind to shreds, and enjoy doing it every step of the way. It’s truly an original gem, and a damn good one at that as it quickly unravels a terrifying tale of a man who wakes up in a pit of dead bodies with no memory of who he is or how he got there. The story that soon unfolds weaves its way through a haunting mystery that will have you guessing from the very beginning. Continue Reading…

Sharlto Copley headlines Open Grave, a wicked looking thriller from director Gonzalo López-Gallego. The trailer has finally hit the web today and it’s nasty in all the right ways. Copley outta have you sold from the get-go, however, if you need more of a reason to give this one a shot then I think the trailer should do the trick. It’s a truly haunting trailer as it offers up some skin-crawling visuals and will leave you itching for more. It looks like a fantastic horror-thriller with an insane set-up that I’m sure will leave us guessing until the final frame.

For some of you Open Grave might have a familiar ring to it as I mentioned it way back in May. But because it has been so damn long since this crazy sounding flick has made the news I wouldn’t be surprised if this is the first a lot of you are hearing of this one. In short, it’s a pretty gnarly sounding thriller with one hell of a psychological twist to it as its set-up starts with Sharlto Copley’s character waking up in a giant grave full of dead bodies—that has to be at the top of the list of shitty ways to start your day! First trailer for Spike Lee’s Oldboy

Ryan —  July 10, 2013 — 7 Comments

FilmDistrict has just released the first trailer for Spike Lee’s upcoming remake of Oldboy and it looks cool as hell! Based on the trailer it doesn’t appear that Lee was holding back with this one as it looks like this is going to be one nasty and brutal film. The cast looks phenomenal — especially Brolin who looks completely badass — and the few shots of Samuel Jackson that we see are pretty damn amazing. I know a lot of fans of the original are not looking forward to this one but I’ve gotta say, this looks pretty f*cking awesome and I think it will get a few more people on board. Check it out below! FilmDistrict has released the first official theatrical one-sheet for Spike Lee’s Oldboy and it’s bizarre to say the least. While I’m still not totally sure how I feel about this poster, I do love the tagline, “Ask not why you were imprisoned. Ask why you were set free.”

The poster is actually a shot from the film itself and a nod to the red-band trailer which is apparently on its way Wednesday. The title treatment is Josh Borlin’s actual handwriting, which was inspired by the handwritten letters his character writes to his daughter in the film. The poster is a nice little taste of the flick but the trailer should tell us a lot more when we see it in just a couple of days. Continue Reading…

Epic new trailer for Neil Blomkamp’s sci-fi thriller Elysium!

Ryan —  June 13, 2013 — 6 Comments

The newest trailer for Neil Blomkamp’s sci-fi actioneer, Elysium, is pretty beastly as it clocks in at just over 3 minutes in length. We certainly didn’t need 3 full minutes to tell us just how badass this flick was going to be but after watching that I feel like I need to change my pants because holy hell that was cool! The trailer features a ton of new footage with some wicked looking action sequences. Blomkamp’s brilliant eye for the sci-fi genre is on full display here making Elysium easily one of my most anticipated films of the summer. Continue Reading…

Trailer for Europa Report makes contact

Ryan —  May 17, 2013 — 1 Comment

Finally, a full length trailer for the Sharlto Copley starring sci-fi horror flick Europa Report is here and it has that great old-school feel to it. I’m always completely blown away by how low-budget sci-fi films manage to make themselves look so damn big — Duncan Jones’ Moon comes to mind. So far Europa Report looks like another fantastic addition to the a genre which is great news because we could always use more great sci-fi flicks. The trailer is very solid as offers just enough chills to get under your skin without revealing a whole lot. Continue Reading…

First teaser poster for Spike Lee's Oldboy remake

Ryan —  April 15, 2013 — 12 Comments

Here’s a look at the teaser poster for Spike Lee’s Oldboy remake which you guys can take a peak at below! It’s nice to finally see some stuff for this flick being thrown our way and it’s only a matter of time before we start getting stills and what not. I was definitely on the fence with this remake for a while but seeing how much I enjoyed the recent Evil Dead I’m pretty much open to anything at this point.

OLDBOY is a provocative, visceral thriller that follows the story of an advertising executive (Josh Brolin) who is abruptly kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement. When he is inexplicably released, he embarks on an obsessive mission to discover who orchestrated his bizarre and torturous punishment only to find he is still trapped in a web of conspiracy and torment.

Co-starring Elizabeth Olsen and Sharlto Copley, Oldboy was directed by Spike Lee, from a script by Mark Protosevich (I Am Legend, The Cell, Thor). The film was produced by Roy Lee, Doug Davison and Nathan Kahane.

Let me just start this by saying, it’s about damn time! District 9 director Neill Blomkamp’s upcoming sci-fi epic Elysium has finally released it’s first trailer and I’d have to say that it was certainly worth the wait. For how quiet the film has been kept the first trailer doesn’t shy away from showing us everything we want to see. The world Blomkamp seemed to have created looks phenomenal and Matt Damon couldn’t look more badass.

In the year 2159, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy, who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Delacourt (Jodie Foster) will stop at nothing to preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium – but that doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in by any means they can. Max (Matt Damon) agrees to take on a life-threatening mission, one that could bring equality to these polarized worlds.

I love that they’ve been able to keep this film so under wraps for so long because it makes the trailer that much more special. The flick looks bad-ass and stars Matt Damon, Sharlto Copley, Wagner Moura, William Fichtner, Alice Braga and Diego Luna.

Anyway, forget all the words and stuff, check it out!
