Trailer for Europa Report makes contact

Ryan —  May 17, 2013 — 1 Comment

Finally, a full length trailer for the Sharlto Copley starring sci-fi horror flick Europa Report is here and it has that great old-school feel to it. I’m always completely blown away by how low-budget sci-fi films manage to make themselves look so damn big — Duncan Jones’ Moon comes to mind. So far Europa Report looks like another fantastic addition to the a genre which is great news because we could always use more great sci-fi flicks. The trailer is very solid as offers just enough chills to get under your skin without revealing a whole lot. Continue Reading…

Let me just start this by saying, it’s about damn time! District 9 director Neill Blomkamp’s upcoming sci-fi epic Elysium has finally released it’s first trailer and I’d have to say that it was certainly worth the wait. For how quiet the film has been kept the first trailer doesn’t shy away from showing us everything we want to see. The world Blomkamp seemed to have created looks phenomenal and Matt Damon couldn’t look more badass.

In the year 2159, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy, who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Delacourt (Jodie Foster) will stop at nothing to preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium – but that doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in by any means they can. Max (Matt Damon) agrees to take on a life-threatening mission, one that could bring equality to these polarized worlds.

I love that they’ve been able to keep this film so under wraps for so long because it makes the trailer that much more special. The flick looks bad-ass and stars Matt Damon, Sharlto Copley, Wagner Moura, William Fichtner, Alice Braga and Diego Luna.

Anyway, forget all the words and stuff, check it out!

Niell Blomkamp's dystopian epic Elysium gets a set of new stills

Ryan —  April 6, 2013 — 2 Comments

It’s a rare thing to get a peak at Neill Blomkamp’s upcoming sci-fi thriller Elysium as the entire project has been tightly under wraps from the get-go. Today, however, a couple of new stills have made their way online showing leading man Matt Damon getting some work done on his skull — looks like fun! In the other pic we get a look at Alice Braga’s character.

I’m a sucker for a good sci-fi film and Blomkamp’s latest effort in the genre looks and sounds like it’s going to be one hell of a ride. Damon looks like a beast and the fact that this film has been able to be so secretive during the filming stages just makes this even more exciting because that is no easy thing to do these days.

Check Out Shartlo Copley In Sci-Fi Epic ‘Elysium’

Ryan —  December 24, 2012 — 2 Comments

Over the last few months we’ve been teased with the same image of Matt Damon holding the bad ass looking rail-gun, and while that picture is cool as hell, fans have been looking for more from director Niel Blomkamp. Now, Empire has scored the very fist look at the District 9 front runner, Shartlo Copley, as he stars in the dystopian epic. Copley looks wicked in this still and I’m really digging the bits of metal screwed into his face. Very cool. Continue Reading…

Bryan Singer’s ‘H+’ Digital Series Hits The Web

Ryan —  August 8, 2012 — Leave a comment

The much buzzed about digital series from producer Bryan Singer (The Usual Suspects, X-Men: First Class) finally goes live and is set in an apocalyptic world where technology goes horribly wrong. The digital age is growing very quickly and it’s an extremely exciting time for content like this because it gives the creators a whole new way to reach viewers of any genre. Here at Rhino’s Horror it’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of sci-fi because in my opinion it features the best of both worlds because sci-fi is all about the future and nothing is more scary than something as unknown as that. Especially with the future that H+ gives us because it’s not too farfetched of a concept. For a web series I was blown away by its production value and you can see with every shot how much effort the filmmakers put into it.

H+ The Digital Series takes viewers on an episodic, apocalyptic journey into the future where consumers are rapidly installing a chip called “HPlus” into their nervous systems that allows them to access the Internet 24 hours a day – by just thinking it. One day, a virus is released – causing a third of the world’s population to die instantly. The series deals with the massive political and human changes that take place, the fight for survival and the mystery to discover who is behind this atrocity.

You can watch the first two episodes today and the great thing about this series is that the episodes are really short so if you’re pressed for time you should have no problem fitting these into your day. Check out the first episode below.

Be sure to head over to their Youtube channel for more episodes which will be coming out weekly.

Awesome Hi-Res Image For Neill Blomkamp’s ‘Elysium’

Ryan —  July 10, 2012 — 1 Comment

Neill Blomkamp’s directorial debut was the much successful sci-fi thriller District 9 and ever since the films release many fans have been anticipating Blomkamp’s next effort. Elysium will mark the young directors second film and ever since its announcement not much has been said about the film other than it was going to be in the sci-fi genre with a lot of underlying sociopolitical messages.

Finally, we get an official hi-res look at the film which features a badass looking Matt Damon with one hell of a gun. Elysium will also star Sharlto Copley, Jodie Foster, Wagner Moura, William Fichtner, Alice Braga and Diego Luna.

In the year 2159 two classes of people exist: the very wealthy who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Rhodes (Jodie Foster), a hard line government official, will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky Max (Matt Damon) is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds.

Check it out.
