Open Grave, from director Gonzalo López-Gallego, injects new life into an exhausted genre that will tear your mind to shreds, and enjoy doing it every step of the way. It’s truly an original gem, and a damn good one at that as it quickly unravels a terrifying tale of a man who wakes up in a pit of dead bodies with no memory of who he is or how he got there. Archives For Open Grave
Sharlto Copley headlines Open Grave, a wicked looking thriller from director Gonzalo López-Gallego. The trailer has finally hit the web today and it’s nasty in all the right ways. Copley outta have you sold from the get-go, however, if you need more of a reason to give this one a shot then I think the trailer should do the trick. It’s a truly haunting trailer as it offers up some skin-crawling visuals and will leave you itching for more. It looks like a fantastic horror-thriller with an insane set-up that I’m sure will leave us guessing until the final frame.
Sharlto Copley wakes up in an Open Grave
For some of you Open Grave might have a familiar ring to it as I mentioned it way back in May. But because it has been so damn long since this crazy sounding flick has made the news I wouldn’t be surprised if this is the first a lot of you are hearing of this one. In short, it’s a pretty gnarly sounding thriller with one hell of a psychological twist to it as its set-up starts with Sharlto Copley’s character waking up in a giant grave full of dead bodies—that has to be at the top of the list of shitty ways to start your day! Sharlto Copley in an ‘Open Grave’ & Signs for ‘Oldboy’
The District 9 and A-Team star Sharlto Copley has become a busy man lately with an upcoming horror film and his recent signing to play the villainous role in Oldboy now on his plate. According to Deadline Copley will be on his way to Hungary to begin shooting the Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego directed horror film Open Grave. In Open Grave, Copley’s character wakes up in a grave full of rotting bodies with no idea how he got there. He soon begins to have flashbacks to himself murdering people which makes him start to believe that he’s the killer. I’d say that if you ever wake up in a pit filled with dead bodies and immediately begin to have horrible memories of you murdering people come rushing back to you, then yes, you probably are the killer. It sounds great and is no doubt a horrifying premise that I am very much excited to see on screen.
“Laugh and the world laughs with you. Weep and you weep alone.”
Copley has also been confirmed to be playing the villain Adrian Pryce in Spike Lee’s upcoming remake of Oldboy. His character is a mysterious billionaire who is trying to destroy the life of Joe Douchett who will be played by Josh Brolin. The reboot will begin shooting in late September. The Oldboy remake is really starting to take shape with some fantastic actors attached with Elizabeth Olsen, Josh Brolin, and now Shartlo Copley. Although not many people are a huge fan of this upcoming remake of Chan-wook Park’s classic, it is nice to see that after a long list of actors that turned down these roles they have finally landed three solid actors who are willing to bring the classic film back to life. If you would like to learn more about the remake of Oldboy check out a recent post here.
As always, thanks for reading.
