And just like that we see another year of horror come to an end as 2014 rolls in on even more films for us to anticipate. I gotta say, I was pretty happy with the genre this year as it offered plenty of variety. We saw some surprisingly good remakes, a big-budget success and a few indie gems stand out from the rest this year. Alfred Hitchcock has directed over 50 feature length films in an amazing career that spanned six decades with many of them becoming some of cinema’s most classic films. Because he has directed so many movies it’s not all that surprising that a lot of them have slipped through the cracks. In a never ending sea of crappy horror films it’s really hard to find a good one anymore. At this point, the the horror films being made today are so bad that I’ll even simply take one that is just decent. They may be few and far between but there are horror films being made today that are better than decent, they are great. There are a lot of movies out there that you can put under the category of a horror comedy and most filmgoers are no stranger to them. Movies like Evil Dead II and Dead Alive really paved the way for the future generation of horror comedies. Everyone loves these types of films whether they know it or not. Shaun of the Dead is a perfect example of this. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t like that movie and that’s because it is exactly why we see movies in the first place. To have a good time. The problem with horror movies these days is that there’s hardly any good ones being made anymore.
