I’m slightly behind the bend on this little bit of news, but better late than never as they say. It was announced a while back that Rosemary’s Baby was headed to the small screen for a mini-series adaptation through NBC, but what we didn’t know at the time was who would take on the iconic role of Rosemary Woodhouse. Well, folks, that has all changed as we now have our new Rosemary thanks to the talented Zoe Saldana (pictured) who has just recently been given the nod. Saldana will play Rosemary, the iconic young wife and would-be mother who, with her husband, moves into a Paris apartment that has a darkly storied past. After finally getting pregnant, she becomes increasingly suspicious that both her husband and their mysterious neighbors have ulterior motives about the future of her child. Continue Reading…
Archives For TV
Almost a year after Showtime’s Penny Dreadful was announced, its very first teaser is here and it’s pefrect. It does exactly what a teaser should do and pulls you in with only a few images and the simple text reminding us that we all have our demons. The series sees a talented cast come together to portray some of horror’s most iconic characters in what should be one hell of a addition to horror on the small screen. The teaser gives us a quick look at Eva Green and things certainly don’t look to be going her way. It’s much darker in tone that I had expected from the show, which is most definitely a good thing; I just hope that this teaser is just a taste of things to come for the show. Continue Reading…
Showtime’s Penny Dreadful has your new Dr. Frankenstein
The Sam Mendes produced Showtime series Penny Dreadful has been quietly injecting some solid talent into the show as they have just added two more actors to the cast. Rory Kinnear and Harry Treadaway (above) are the latest to join the recently announced Reeve Carney, Josh Hartnett, Timothy Dalton and Eva Green (below). Kinnear’s character has yet to be given a name but he’s said to play mysterious character of haunting intensity and, in a new version of Mary Shelley’s inspired and obsessed genius, Treadaway will take on the role of Dr. Victor Frankenstein. From the floor up Penny Dreadful is brimming with talent and I can’t wait to see how this one translates onto the small screen. Read on to find out who’s who in Showtime’s upcoming psychological thriller. Continue Reading…
Is The Exorcist next for a TV adaptation?
Get ready for another one of our beloved horror films to head to the land of television. Right now it sounds like there’s heavy interest in getting a TV series based on William Friedkin’s horror classic The Exorcist off the ground. Morgan Creek, who has the rights to the property, is currently shopping the idea around in hopes that it will get picked up by either cable or broadcast networks. While details are slim on the plot itself, we do know Jeremy Slater (Fantastic Four reboot) is penning the adaptation that is said to be an all new take on the material — whatever that’s supposed to mean! They are still currently in the very early stages of development but don’t be surprised if you see this one land a deal shortly. Continue Reading…

Sam Mendes’ Penny Dreadful series finds a director
Things are finally starting to pick up for the Sam Mendes and John Logan produced Penny Dreadful series which is said to be of the of the psychosexual horror variety. The latest news to come out of Showtime’s upcoming series is that they have hired Juan Antonio Bayona (The Orphanage) to direct the first two episodes. This is fantastic news folks. Not only do they have one hell of a director in place, but they’ve got one who knows a thing or two about the horror genre and considering he’ll be responsible for some of horror’s most classic characters, I’d say that’s a pretty good thing. Continue Reading…

John Hurt to play Abraham Setrakian in The Strain
FX’s adaptation of Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan’s horror novel The Strain has just added John Hurt to co-lead opposite Corey Stoll and Mia Maestro in the network’s high-profile drama pilot, reports Deadline.
Hurt is the final piece to the puzzle for the show as he’ll portray Professor Abraham Setrakian, a holocaust survivor who immigrated to the U.S. after World War II and now runs a pawn shop in Spanish Harlem. As the outbreak spreads, he may be the only one with answers — if anyone will listen. The Strain was already shaping up quite nicely but now that they’ve landed Hurt to play Setrakian, I think it’s safe to say that we might just have one hell of a show on our hands. Continue Reading…

Time traveling serial killer series being adapted by Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way?
Per THR, MRC and Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way are teaming up to adapt The Shining Girls, written by Lauren Beukes and generating buzz as one of this summer’s must-reads. The two companies, however, are not aiming for a feature adaptation but rather intend to develop the project for television. It’s a wicked sounding novel that goes a little something like this: Continue Reading…

New Under the Dome poster tugs at the heart strings
June 24th is almost here and that means CBS’ upcoming adaptation of Stephen Kings Under the Dome is almost upon us, and with that we’ve got a new one-sheet featuring a boy separated from his dog by just a single depressing inch. I love this poster. It captures the idea of being trapped under this invisible dome and how you can be so close to the outside world while being so far away. It’s simple and very effective. Well done! Continue Reading…
It’s hard to believe that we have a little less than a month until CBS unleashes their TV adaptation of Stephen King’s Under the Dome. With the premiere date getting that much closer, The Master of Horror recently talked with Parade Magazine where he spilled some thoughts on the upcoming series along with some of the stories that scared him when he was a kid.
