The third film in the popular V/H/S franchise has just been announced as the third installment will be titled V/H/S Viral and will focus on fame-obsessed teens who unwittingly become stars of the next internet sensation. It’s going to be interesting to see how each of the directors take that set-up and turn it into something horrific. Kids do a lot of stupid shit so the possibilities are endless with this one—should be a lot of fun!
For me, the most exciting part about the entire franchise is seeing which directors get the nod to direct a segment in the film. In the past we’ve seen some of horror’s best up-and-coming directors deliver some truly memorable stories, and V/H/S Viral is no different. The new film will feature the work of Todd Lincoln (The Apparition), Nacho Vigalondo (Timecrimes), Marcel Sarmiento (Deadgirl), Gregg Bishop (The Other Side), Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead (Resolution). Not too shabby!
As with any anthology film, there’s always a “best” of the bunch. Last year we saw Timo Tjahjanto and Gareth Huw Evans deliver Safe Haven, which left horror fans smiling like a butcher’s dog, so hopefully V/H/S Viral will have a Safe Haven of its very own. I’m sure we’ll be hearing plenty more from this one soon as Epic Pictures Group will commence sales in Cannes next month for the film.
