The Green Inferno marks the long awaited return of director Eli Roth who hasn’t stepped behind the camera of a feature film since 2007′s Hostel: Part II, and today a teaser trailer has finally dropped for the cannibalistic tale and it’s absolutely haunting. In it we’re teased with a few close-up shots of a terrified girl tied down by a native tribe who only have one thing on the menu—man-sushi. The teaser captures the very gruesome nature of Roth’s latest foray into the genre without actually spilling any of the red stuff. It plays on the fears of our imagination because we all know what road this is heading down, the teaser just provides the direction.

The Green Inferno will have a feast in theaters on September 5th through Open Road Films.

How far would you go for a cause you believe in? In horror master Eli Roth’s terrifying new film, a group of college students take their humanitarian protest from New York to the Amazon jungle, only to get kidnapped by the native tribe they came to save: a tribe that still practices the ancient rite of cannibalism, and has a healthy appetite for intruders.

Directed by Eli Roth, The Green Inferno stars Daryl Sabara, Kirby Bliss Blanton, Lorenza Izzo, Ariel Levy, Aaron Burns, Magda Apanowicz, and Sky Ferreria.

I honestly believe that if you were ever attacked by a gorilla that you should just sit back and relax while you enjoy the once in a life time feeling of having each of your limbs ripped off.

I am ashamed to say that I loved both Hostel and Hostel Part II and am therefore looking forward to The Green Inferno. I can’t wait.

Nothing wrong with liking those films, Jmount! I’m a big fan of Hostel as well and I think Roth gets a lot of unwarranted hate. He’s a horror fan making horror movies that tend to be bloody fun. This looks awesome!

Okay, feel like it will be compared a lot to Cannibal Holocaust :D

Yeah, it certainly will. Cannibal Holocaust was the major inspiration behind this one so I’m sure we’ll see Roth give plenty of nods to it.

I cannot wait for this!! I heard Greg Nicotero did the special effects, so you know if he’s involved it’ll be awesome!

It should be a hell of a return for Roth and Nicotero certainly doesn’t hurt. Can’t wait!

Yeah, when I heard Nicotero was involved, it really cranked my anticipation up a notch. I am kind of let down they’re going to have to trim it for an R-Rating… then again, they didn’t even NEED to release an Unrated version of Piranha when it was released. I saw that at a midnight showing, and even that audience, including me, yelled, “HOAH!” in shock several times. I know commercial releases get cut a little more slack, but Jesus, this is still the goriest R-rated movie I’ve ever seen, and I couldn’t believe what they got away with (and I loved every minute).

Cannibal Holocaust was impressive. However (and I’m no prude) I just can’t condone the amount of animal cruelty present in the movie. Really unnecessary, and I read the cast wasn’t exactly thrilled during filming, either. Glad I’ll be able to watch this one without worrying someone is suddenly going to execute a (live) animal. Just lots of humans (courtesy of Nicotero)!

Seeing Cannibal Holocaust once was enough for me. The senseless killing of the animals was ridiculous. Glad we won’t have to worry about any of that shit with this one, though.
