RLJ/Image Entertainment has just announced (finally) the release date of Lucky McKee and Chris Sivertson’s All Cheerleaders Die, and to celebrate the occasion we’ve been handed a new poster. Back in November, when we first saw the amazing trailer for this ridiculous little flick, I admitted to giving All Cheerleaders Die the ol’ write-off attitude. That all changed, however, once I saw what this horror-comedy gem had to offer. Continue Reading…

Often regarded as “the most controversial movie ever made”, Ruggero Deodato’s 1980 cult classic Cannibal Holocaust has been brought back to life with a stunning new poster created by Randy Ortiz. I don’t love the film, but man do I really dig this poster; it’s absolutely gorgeous and easily one of my favorite pieces from Ortiz to date. Continue Reading…
A film that garnered nothing but positive buzz during its Sundance Film Festival run was Jeremy Saulnier’s American revenge thriller Blue Ruin, and because it’s headed our way in just under a month, I thought I’d share with you fine folks the film’s latest trailer. It’s a magnetic and powerful trailer that displays the extreme measures a man is willing to go to protect and avenge his family.
Tucker & Dale Vs. Evil is one of the most entertaining, blood-fueled horror comedies to grace the genre in quite a few years, and now signs are pointing towards a potential sequel is in the works. This past week was the popular HorrorHound convention in Cincinnati, Ohio, where the two stars of the film Alan Tudyk and Tyler Labine both dropped a bomb on the audience that the producers of the original film are hoping to move forward with a sequel at some point this very year. That’s exciting stuff, people!
On the heels of its latest trailer (watch it here), Zack Parkers psychological indie horror Proxy has just unveiled a new poster and it’s quite gorgeous if you ask me. I’m sure that it’s no coincidence, but the latest poster echoes that of the poster art for Roman Polanski’s 1968 classic Rosemary’s Baby with the classic shot of Mia Farrow’s Rosemary looking up to the heavens. Proxy‘s poster is essentially the same thing but with a minor twist. Regardless, it’s cool as hell and continues the trend of indie horror movies getting the best movie posters out there. Dig it! It looks like the Amityville house has just found its next victim as BD is reporting that Maniac director Franck Khalfoun is currently in talks to helm the latest film in the franchise. Originally the film was titled The Amityville Horror: The Lost Tapes but it has now been changed to the much simpler (and better) title of Amityville. With the haunted house genre thriving like it is, I’m not at all surprised to see this one making some noise. Khalfoun gives Amityville a pretty big edge considering he’s coming off of his brilliant remake of Maniac, which was one of my favorite horror films of 2013. His brutal sense of storytelling should find a nice, cozy place within the Amityville house. Continue Reading…
Ah, the Short Round, how lovely to see you again! On tap today is a brilliant little short film from Swedish director David Sandberg titled Lights Out. The horror genre tends to get a lot of guff for relying on nothing but jump scares which is considered to be an easy way out to scare the audience. But in a short film setting like Lights Out, the jump scare is its best friend. The director has a very small window to work with, so fusing his short with one jump scare after another proves to be quite effective. Continue Reading…
Some of you folks may not remember this, but almost exactly a year ago I reported on a little flick called Wolfcop that looked like the perfect love letter to the horror films of old with its ridiculous set up and kickass practical effects. Well, I’m happy to say that not only is it alive and kicking, but the crazy talented Dude Designs created a brilliant poster for the film to celebrate its Canadian release on June 6th. There’s just so much cool going on in one poster that I’m not even going to try and describe it to you. Just do yourself a favor and take a peek at it below and prepare to be amazed. Director E.L. Katz—who is a longtime collaborator of You’re Next’s Adam Wingard—makes his feature film debut with Cheap Thrills, a deeply discomforting, nasty piece of cinema that isn’t afraid to push every button in the genre. The film follows Craig, a struggling family man who is on the very edge of losing everything. After running into an old friend at the bar, the two friends are roped into a round of drinks by a charismatic and ridiculously wealthy stranger along with his wife. Together the couple create a series of seemingly innocent dares for the two friends to do in exchange for some quick cash. As the cash reward gets higher and higher, the dares become more and more twisted, showing just how far some people are willing to go for money. Continue Reading…
