pet-sematary

And here it is! A remake to Pet Sematary looks to finally be in the works with 28 Weeks Later director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo at the helm, reports Variety. Here’s a remake I think a lot of people have been asking for, including myself. I’m a huge fan of Mary Lambert’s 1989 original, but it’s just one of those flicks that I always felt suffered because of questionable acting. I think fans will be behind this one, giving Fresnadillo the rare opportunity to really blow us away with a fresh take on the classic tale. This may surprise some of you, but the 1989 film was quite the box office success, grossing $57 million domestically—it’s actually the fourth highest grossing adaptation of a King novel. Not bad! Yesterday we were hit with the surprising news that Fede Alvarez was no longer attached to Evil Dead 2, but apparently the statement made by co-writer Rodo Sayagues got lost in translation. Bloody Disgusting reached out to Alvarez  who confirms that, “stuff got lost in translation” with Sayagues in the Gorosito interview published earlier today. He elaborated, “Rodo meant we’re not actually making ‘Evil Dead 2′ right now because the priority is Sam’s ‘Army of Darkness 2.’ But the plan of making a sequel to our ‘Evil Dead’ is very much alive.” Continue Reading…

Sharlto Copley headlines Open Grave, a wicked looking thriller from director Gonzalo López-Gallego. The trailer has finally hit the web today and it’s nasty in all the right ways. Copley outta have you sold from the get-go, however, if you need more of a reason to give this one a shot then I think the trailer should do the trick. It’s a truly haunting trailer as it offers up some skin-crawling visuals and will leave you itching for more. It looks like a fantastic horror-thriller with an insane set-up that I’m sure will leave us guessing until the final frame.

Evil Dead 2 took a huge blow today as it was announced that both director Fede Alvarez and co-writer Rodo Sayagues have dropped out of the project. This comes in just a few days after we learned that Sam Raimi would be helming Army of Darkness 2. With Alvarez out of the project, things aren’t looking so great for the sequel. Here’s what Sayagues told Gorosito.tv: Continue Reading…

Mondo is continuously laying out some fantastic prints for the month of October with their latest poster coming to us from artist Randy Ortiz. Ortiz’s take on Ridley Scott’s Alien is absolutely amazing—it’s a simple enough design that features the terrifying face-hugger latched to its prey. Yummy! Some fantastic stuff here, so if you’re considering trying your hand at snagging one of these then you’ll want to act quick as they are sure to go pretty fast. Continue Reading…

trick-r-treat

During a special Trick ‘r Treat screening in Hollywood, director Michael Dougherty and Legendary Pictures announced the long awaited sequel to his cult hit. With the director and most of the cast in attendance, you had to know that they were cooking up something big for the screening. Fans have been waiting for a sequel, and now it’s finally going to arrive. While details are still pretty slim, Dougherty still managed to spill some goods during the event. Continue Reading…

army-of-darkness-2 (1)

Last week Bruce Campbell spilled some fantastic news, saying that an Army of Darkness 2 was on its way. I decided to hold off on reporting that news because we’ve all heard Campbell say similar things with nothing materializing. Well, folks, it’s time to start talking Army of Darkness 2 because the mastermind behind it all, Sam Raimi, has just been confirmed by none other than Evil Dead‘s Fede Alvarez! Continue Reading…

contracted_3.608x365

There’s really nothing like a good ol’ fashion body horror flick to get your skin crawling, and that’s exactly what Eric England’s Contracted aims to do; here’s a trailer to prove it! In the trailer we get to see all of the classic elements of the body horror genre as we see teeth, hair and nails falling out left and right. You know… the kind of stuff to make you feel nice and squeamish! It’s a pretty disturbing looking little indie chiller and certainly one to keep an eye on if you’re into some gross-out horror.

Contracted will hit VOD platforms on November 22nd. Continue Reading…
