Okay so this probably isn’t the most exciting picture you’ve seen today but when it comes to Tommy Wirkola’s Dead Snow: Red vs. Dead, it’s certainly worth taking a peek at. The new still gives us our first look at Martin Starr who’s trying to avoid becoming man sushi, but if you take a look in the top left corner you’ll see something lurking in the shadows! Archives For September 2013
Marina de Van’s Dark Touch had plenty of potential, but with an unconvincing lead and its disjointed story the film ultimately loses itself after a solid first act. In a remote town in Ireland, eleven-year-old Neve finds herself the sole survivor of a bloody massacre that killed her parents and younger brother. Suspecting a gang of homicidal vandals, the police ignore Neve’s explanation that the house is the culprit. To help ease her trauma, dutiful neighbors Nat and Lucas take her in with the supervision of a social worker. Neve has trouble finding peace with the wholesome and nurturing couple, and horrific danger continues to manifest. Continue Reading…
With the horror genre getting littered with one remake after another these days it’s hard to believe that there are even any classics left to be retold. Believe it or not, there are still some films out there that have managed to slip through the cracks as studios have attempted to bring them back to life one way or another. Below is a list of films that very nearly got remade and I think you’re going to be surprised as to why some of these never made it off the ground. Continue Reading…
In Fear gets a chilling new trailer
A new trailer for Jeremy Lovering’s terrifying debut In Fear has arrived and it looks creepy as hell. It has been a while since I’ve mentioned this one on the site and while we still have no idea when we’ll see a release of this one here in the States, the good folks over in the UK will be able to check it out in cinemas on November 15th. With so many horror films on the horizon it’s never easy keeping track of what to watch, but I have a feeling that In Fear is one you’re going to want to put at the top of your list. Some possessed new stills from Backmask look terrifying
Backmask is one I’ve been trying to keep a close eye on despite there not being a whole lot of information going around as far as when this one will get a release. Backmask is directed by Marcus Nispel who you may recognize as the man behind the remakes of both The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Friday the 13th. I was a huge fan of his take on Leatherface because he managed to make the iconic character terrifying once again and the look of the film was dark and gritty and really made for not only a solid horror flick, but one of the better remakes we’ve seen over the years. Continue Reading…
Carrie remake gets an official rating
This is pretty much the best possible news we could have gotten from Kimberly Peirce’s upcoming take on Carrie. A rating is everything in a horror film because it determines a lot of what we’ll actually see on screen. With a film like Carrie, you absolutely need to see everything because seeing Carrie’s wrath is what the story is all about. Continue Reading…
Stephen King talks Kubrick’s The Shining; he’s still not a fan
We all know that Stephen King has never been a big fan of Stanley Kubrick’s classic horror film adaptation of The Shining—it’s something he’s been vocal about for years now. But with his upcoming sequel Doctor Sleep gearing up to hit shelves this Tuesday, September 24th, King dished out a little more on exactly why he’s never been much of a fan of Kubrick’s version. Here’s what he had to say: Continue Reading…
Crazy cool Carrie poster runs red
Artist Jessica Deahl recently took on the 1976 Brian De Palma horror classic Carrie and it’s an absolutely stunning piece of work. Deahl found a way to breathe new life into Stephen King’s classic character and the result is nothing short of horror gold. It’s really an amazing piece and thankfully Deahl didn’t shy away from the red stuff we appreciate so much around these parts because it really captures the very essence of the flick. To put it simply, it’s cool as hell! With Halloween just around the corner we’re starting to see some truly awesome horror themed posters being brought to life and Deahl’s Carrie poster is no doubt one of the best ones we’ve seen yet! Fede Alvarez to take on 9 rings of hell in Dante’s Inferno adaptation
This is going to be insane. Universal Pictures has just set Evil Dead director Fede Alvarez behind the camera of Dante’s Inferno. The flick will be based off the EA game of the same name, which is based on part one of the medieval epic poem, The Divine Comedy, commonly referred to as Dante’s Inferno, by Dante Alighieri. Whether or not your a fan of Alvarez’s take on Sam Raimi’s classic The Evil Dead, there’s no doubting that his use of practical effects and gut-punching gore was absolutely brilliant.
