The Seasoning House marks the first directorial effort by renowned British special effects artist Paul Hyett. You may not recognize his name, but you will no doubt be familiar with his brilliant special effects/make-up work found in films such as The Descent, The Woman in Black, Doomsday, Eden Lake and so much more. It was only a matter of time before Hyett took a seat behind the lens and with The Seasoning House being his feature film debut he managed to find a way to leave his stamp on the horror genre. The film follows deaf and mute Angel, who is abducted and ditched in a grim Balkan brothel. The ex-soldier who runs the place, Viktor, puts her to work tending to the other women, but when she sparks a friendship with one of the women, things take a turn for the violent. Continue Reading…

The MPAA gives Roth’s Green Inferno an R rating for “aberrant violence”!

The-Green-Inferno-2013-3

In perhaps the best news of the day, the MPAA has officially delivered an expected R rating to Eli Roth’s The Green Inferno. The best part? Here’s the description they gave on the rating, “aberrant violence and torture, grisly disturbing images, brief graphic nudity, sexual content, language and some drug use”. With Roth finally returning to a spot behind the camera of a feature film, you had to know he was going to come out swinging. Inspired by Cannibal Holocaust, The Green Inferno appears to be Roth’s most violent and disturbing film yet, which is saying a lot considering his body of work. Continue Reading…

Dark and twisted trailer for We Are What We Are has a special kind of hunger

Stake Land director Jim Mickle’s next turn to horror sees his remake of the 2010 Mexican film of the same name, We Are What We Are, hit select theaters on September 27th and has now released its first trailer. I’m unfamiliar with the original film but based on this fantastically dark trailer I get the vibe that it’s going to have a slow-burn style of horror. In-your-face horror films are fun but we rarely get a solid tale of terror that boils slowly until finally unleashing its terrifying secret, so I’m really hoping the entire film has the same pacing as this trailer. So far, We Are What We Are looks like one to keep a close eye on. Continue Reading…

By now I’m sure you all know just how excited I am to see Ti West and Eli Roth’s The Sacrament. The reason for the excitement is simply because we’ll be seeing Roth, who is finally starting to dig his claws back into the horror genre, team up with one of horror’s most promising up and coming directors with Ti West. When the project was first announced it was kept very quiet and little details were known. Now that the film is gearing up for its World Premiere at TIFF, we are finally starting to see just what the duo has in store. While we wait for a trailer, here’s a fantastic poster for the film that EW got their hands on earlier today. Continue Reading…

You haven’t truly experience all that the horror genre has to offer if you haven’t seen a classic giallo film. The giallo genre has given horror fans some unforgettably gruesome films over the years with their stylish camerawork and jaw dropping gore. And now, directors Hélène Cattet and Bruno Forzani aim to give horror fans a throwback to the once powerful genre with their intriguing looking The Strange Colour of Your Body’s Tears. The teaser for the flick is below and while it only comes in at 27 seconds, it leaves one hell of an impression. As most teasers do, it doesn’t offer anything to hold on to as far as the story goes, but it’s just enough to make you want more. A true indie horror film inspired by the genre that gave us films like Suspiria and Dressed to kill is certainly worth keeping an eye on. Take a look! Continue Reading…

By now everyone knows the big news from last night as it was announced that Ben Affleck would be playing Batman in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel sequel. While I don’t have much of an opinion on the big casting news, the only thing I was truly concerned about was what will happen with Affleck’s directing career. He has completely reinvented himself over the years and taking a seat in the director’s chair was a big part of that. Less than 24 hours after the announcement of Affleck taking on the caped crusader, news has come in that Warner Bros. has already replaced him for the directing gig on the adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand. Amber Heard is Mandy Lane in Jonanthan Levine's All The Boys Love Mandy Lane.

Horror fans have been anticipating the release of You’re Next for over two years now and while that is certainly a hell of a long time to wait, the home invasion thriller has nothing on Jonathan Levine’s All the Boys Love Mandy Lane. The Warm Bodies director will finally see his film come to light as it has landed a release date seven long years after premiering at Toronto Film Festival Midnight. Damn! Continue Reading…

Illustrator and Artist, Matt Andrews, has recreated some of horror’s most terrifying monsters by using nothing but cosmetics such as lip stick, baby powder, adhesive bandages and so much more. It’s amazing what someone like Andrews can piece together with such a creative and talented mind. His art is truly something special and guaranteed to wow any fan of the horror genre.  Continue Reading…

You never like to see a popular actor leave a project like Guillermo del Toro’s Crimson Peak; especially when their name is Benedict Cumberbatch. First Emma Stone had to exit the film due to a conflict in her schedule now we see another one go — this time, however, it hurts much worse. As a huge fan of Cumberbatch I was pretty damn excited to see the actor take on a crazy horror flick with none other than Guillermo del Toro at the helm. Despite Cumberbatch leaving, which is no doubt some sad news, I’m positive that del Toro will find a fitting replacement – and most likely very soon. Continue Reading…
