Jamie Foxx teams up with SyFy for a horror anthology series

Jamie Foxx’s name is definitely not the name you first think of when you see that a horror anthology series will be headed to SyFy but it’s pretty damn cool to say the least. The series has yet to be titled but will see Foxx land an acting role as well as being on board to write, produce, and direct the series which is currently set to premiere this October with five episodes.

Deadline says that the anthology will be a nod to the classics like The Twilight Zone and Tales from the Crypt and will tell tales with all the good stuff like envy, jealousy, and superficiality. Foxx spoke on the upcoming project saying:

This is a project that I’ve wanted to do for a long time and I’m so happy to see it come to life,” Foxx said. “Get ready to lose it when some special friends and I bring the scares this October, and who knows… maybe I’ll make a guest appearance or two along the way!

He sounds pretty damn excited about the upcoming series and I’d have to say that I am too. He’s extremely talented and has an obvious passion for the project, let’s just hope he does indeed “bring the scares”.

Ben Wheatley’s Sightseers is gearing up for its release through IFC as the dark comedy will be hitting theaters and VOD next month. Wheatley stormed onto the horror scene with his twisted and violent  horror flick Kill List and has been working non-stop since then. The trailer for his next effort, Sightseers, is absolutely fantastic and shows exactly what we are in for — a dark and violent ride.

Chris (Steve Oram) wants to show Tina (Alice Lowe) his world and he wants to do it his way – on a journey through the British Isles in his beloved Abbey Oxford Caravan. Tina’s led a sheltered life and there are things that Chris needs her to see – the Crich Tramway Museum, the Ribblehead Viaduct, the Keswick Pencil Museum and the rolling countryside that accompanies these wonders in his life.

But it doesn’t take long for the dream to fade. Litterbugs, noisy teenagers and pre-booked caravan sites, not to mention Tina’s meddling mother, soon conspire to shatter Chris’s dreams and send him, and anyone who rubs him up the wrong way, over a very jagged edge…

Sightseers will be hitting theaters on May 10th just before going the VOD route on May 13th.
