With the much anticipated release of the Fede Alvarez directed remake of Evil Dead creeping up on us, FilmDistrict and TriStar have revealed a sort of new poster for the flick. Sony toyed a bit with the original teaser one-sheet by moving some of the wording and changing up the color to the oh so appropriate red.
Okay, so it’s not totally “new” but who really cares — It’s Evil Dead!
In the much anticipated remake of the 1981 cult-hit horror film, five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin. When they discover a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.
Evil Dead, the film that launched the careers of Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell will be directed by Fede Alvarez and stars Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Lou Taylor Pucci, Elizabeth Blackmore and Jessica Lucas. The soul swallowing begins on April 5th! Get a peak at the poster below

Maybe it’s just me, but I feel that remakes should be banned on principle. Given the number of great horror books currently being written and, I am sure, fantastic scripts that producers are maybe too scared to make something out of.
I really think it should be judged on a case by case basis, but I see where you’re coming from, for sure.
True. I was being a little provocative, I know. I have actually seen some good remakes. It’s just that all too often Hollywood plays it way too safe. I saw no reason, for example to remake Spiderman, when the good Toby McGuire one was only out a few short years ago.
The newer spider man wasn’t a remake, it was a different story line (spider man vs. the amazing spider man, thus the difference in titles and plots such as the origin of his webbing, etc.).
That tagline really gets me excited…the most terrifying film you will ever experience. Bring it on!!!
The tagline is certainly ballsy and a pretty big claim but that just adds to how awesome this movie is. Can’t wait!
Lets hope this flick lives up to its promotional campaign. I’m gonna be disappointed if it turns out to be just another cheap knockoff remaker…
I think a lot of the tagline is playing on the original one which went like, “The Ultimate Experience In Grueling Terror.” I like the confidence the studio is showing though. It’s a big claim but it just adds to the excitement!
