Trick? Or treat?
With Halloween fast approaching—it’s only a week away, folks!—I thought I’d share with you this fantastic short film from director Marc Roussel. The Last Halloween is about a group of trick-or-treaters who are keeping the Halloween tradition alive and well despite the downfall of society. It’s an interesting setup that takes a post-apocalyptic setting and injects it with some good ol’ fashion Halloween elements, complete with costumes, trick-or-treaters and a chilly atmosphere.
Coming in at a quick 10 minutes, The Last Halloween is a well-paced little haunter that will make you think twice about the next time a group of kids come knocking on your door on Halloween night.
The city is quiet; the streets, deserted. It doesn’t much feel like Halloween, and yet four young trick-or-treaters – a Ghost, a Devil, a Grim Reaper and a Witch – make their way through the night, door to door and house by house, gathering up an unlikely harvest of kindness amid the devastated wreckage of society’s collapse.
It stars Ron Basch, Emily Alatalo, Angela Besharah and Julian Richings. Check it out below and be sure to watch more short films by visiting the Short Round!
