The remake that isn’t really a remake to Charles B. Pierce’s 1976 slasher gets a trailer.
Texerkana will be visited by a masked madman once again in the Alfonso Gomez-Rejon-directed slasher The Town That Dreaded Sundown. Here’s a little bit of a horror movie confession for you: I’ve actually never seen the original film. It’s one of those movies that hardly anyone talks about (unless they really know their shit), so for some reason The Town That Dreaded Sundown has always eluded me. I’ve only recently become aware of the film, which is surprising because not only does it sound like a genuinely creepy slasher, but it has one of the best movie titles ever. The Town That Dreaded Sundown. It’s so good!
We now have the first trailer for the sequel/remake and it’s surprisingly good. While the voice of the killer is a little too over-the-top for me, I really dig the fact that this one is playing it straight by delivering a slasher film that, while having old school flare, looks like something new and whole hell of a lot of fun. Set in a world in which the original film exists and is very much part of popular consciousness, this update sees the quiet streets of Texerkana plagued by a maniac who bears striking resemblance to the same Phantom Killer who wreaked havoc on the town decades before. Is history repeating itself? Or has somebody just seen the original film too many times?

Well, that looks stupid. And no Gary Cole in the trailers means he’s obviously the killer right?
It could be good, but I have a feeling the killer is going to get on my nerves.
The title is excellent and if some of the American Horror story lot are behind it then this might be good :D
Yeah, the title is so damn good. I agree, it’ll be interesting to see how it turns out with Murphy behind this one.
