The guys who brought us Resolution have a twisted tale to tell…

Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead left quite an impression on the world of horror with their indie hit Resolution, and now they’re back with Spring, a romantic tale of horror that hides a monstrous secret. With its world premiere about to get underway at this year’s TIFF, we now have the first trailer for the duo’s sophomore effort and it looks fantastic.

The trailer is somewhat misleading at first, introducing us to a man who desperately needs to disappear and start a life somewhere new—Italy. He meets the girl of his dreams there; she’s beautiful and mysterious, setting up a romance that he will never forget. The trouble is, she carries with her a very dark secret. That’s when the trailer takes a turn and we’re thrown into a nightmare, one that has a monster waiting in the darkness. It’s all topped off by a score that hits pretty hard, wrapping this one up with a wonderfully eerie bow of horror.

There are a lot of reasons to get excited about Benson and Moorhead’s Spring, one of which is the fact that there are still filmmakers out there pushing the boundaries and looking to tell a story that we haven’t seen before. That, my friends, is worth a whole hell of a lot in the horror genre.

Spring follows a young man in a personal tailspin as he flees Southern California to the Italian coast, where he sparks up a romance with a woman carrying a dark secret.

Evil Dead’s Lou Taylor Pucci stars alongside Nadia Hilker.

Oooh, I like the way that looks. Appears to have just the right amount of ‘normal’ appeal mixed in with some very dark and strange happenings. Sign me up for this!

Yeah, it really looks cool. Kind of like a mix of sci-fi, romance and horror. You should check out their previous film, Resolution, if you haven’t. It’s a very smart and creepy little film.
