A lot of scary shit happens in the real world everyday, but it’s not too often we see something as mysterious and terrifying as the recent death of Elisa Lam. According to Deadline, Sony Pictures has just acquired the rights to The Bringing, a horror script written by Brandon and Phillip Murphy and based on an actual place and series of events. The story is based on the mysterious death of Elisa Lam, a woman who was found dead in the water tanks on the roof of the Cecil Hotel in Los Angeles. And they may have never found her body if it weren’t for the guests of the hotel who—two weeks after Lam’s death—started to complain about the taste and the color of the water. Can you believe that? What a terribly freaky story this is.
But perhaps the most terrifying part of it all is the fact that there is actual footage of Lam’s bizarre, inexplicable behavior in an elevator just before her death. What makes the video so jarring is how she appears to be talking to herself (or something) before acting completely off-the-wall nuts. It really sends you chills knowing what happens to her next, a mystery that we may never solve.
The Bringing is based on this story, which tells of the man investigating her death, and the nightmare he stumbles into. I think Sony is really on to something with this one, folks, as it has the makings of a truly horrifying film. The mystery of the Cecil Hotel doesn’t stop there, however, as it has become a place that not only Richard Ramirez—an American serial killer, rapist, and burglar—called home at one time or another, but has seen many suicides occur. Below is the video of Lam’s bizarre last moments.
