Almost a year after Showtime’s Penny Dreadful was announced, its very first teaser is here and it’s pefrect. It does exactly what a teaser should do and pulls you in with only a few images and the simple text reminding us that we all have our demons. The series sees a talented cast come together to portray some of horror’s most iconic characters in what should be one hell of a addition to horror on the small screen. The teaser gives us a quick look at Eva Green and things certainly don’t look to be going her way. It’s much darker in tone that I had expected from the show, which is most definitely a good thing; I just hope that this teaser is just a taste of things to come for the show.

The Orphanage director Juan Antonio Bayona is behind the camera of the first two episodes so I don’t think we have to worry about this one getting off to a solid start. Here’s what the show is about:

The series draws from famous works of literature, posing that some of the most terrifying protagonists — Dr. Frankenstein and his creature, Dorian Gray, Dracula’s Van Helsing and more — come together in Victorian London.

Penny Dreadful will premiere in the Spring of 2014 and stars Josh Hartnett, Eva Green, Timothy Dalton, Reeve Carney, Rory Kinnear, Hearry Treadaway, Billie Piper and Danny Sapani. Take a peek at the teaser below and be sure to leave your thoughts!

I enjoy life, living comes so naturally to me; its a precious gift like boobs… or rockets. I honestly believe that if you were ever attacked by a gorilla that you should just sit back and relax while you enjoy the once in a life time feeling of having each of your limbs ripped off.

I hope they have a longer trailer soon, so I can get more of an idea what it’s about. Since Dexter is over Showtime needs a new horror to take its place; hopefully this one will be good.

I bet we see a couple of more teasers and then a trailer. But you’re right, it definitely needs a full trailer to really show off what kind of show it’s going to be. Based on this teaser though, I like what I see!

Yeah I will definitely give the pilot a watch and see how it is. Seems interesting and I can’t imagine Eva Green would take a job on a mediocre series.
