Alvarez says Evil Dead 2 is still happening, good… because that would have sucked

Jane Levy

Yesterday we were hit with the surprising news that Fede Alvarez was no longer attached to Evil Dead 2, but apparently the statement made by co-writer Rodo Sayagues got lost in translation. Bloody Disgusting reached out to Alvarez  who confirms that, “stuff got lost in translation” with Sayagues in the Gorosito interview published earlier today. He elaborated, “Rodo meant we’re not actually making ‘Evil Dead 2′ right now because the priority is Sam’s ‘Army of Darkness 2.’ But the plan of making a sequel to our ‘Evil Dead’ is very much alive.”

Wow, so we went from terrible news to great news all around. With Army of Darkness 2 being the priority it looks like Evil Dead 2 is just patiently waiting to open the book of the dead once again. This is great because it most likely means we’ll be seeing Army of Darkness 2 sooner rather than later. Alvarez did a brilliant job with the Evil Dead remake and I honestly can’t imagine anyone else taking over from where he left off.

I enjoy life, living comes so naturally to me; its a precious gift like boobs… or rockets. I honestly believe that if you were ever attacked by a gorilla that you should just sit back and relax while you enjoy the once in a life time feeling of having each of your limbs ripped off.

Makes sense. I bet they’ll have Army of Darkness 2 lead into Evil Dead 2 for the Mia/Ash crossover.

If they ever crossover that would be amazing. I was hoping that Mia would get another standalone film first but I’d be happy either way.

Phew, I am so glad I was out of the news loop yesterday, otherwise this would have been a massive bummer for me. Instead I come to victoriously good news!
