The Art of Matt Andrews

Illustrator and Artist, Matt Andrews, has recreated some of horror’s most terrifying monsters by using nothing but cosmetics such as lip stick, baby powder, adhesive bandages and so much more. It’s amazing what someone like Andrews can piece together with such a creative and talented mind. His art is truly something special and guaranteed to wow any fan of the horror genre.

The project was called “Beauty Shock.” We had to take something beautiful, or in my case beautifying, and make it shocking. I originally was going to just use one medium, shaving cream. It’s one of those things that is so fun to play with and sculpt, but let it stand a few minutes and it loses its structure. There’s something so nice about a medium that forces you to work fast and be done quickly… In the end though, my professor suggested I branch out with other cosmetics, and then I just picked movie monsters because they are so iconic and recognizable that it would be very feasible to represent them using any medium.

I enjoy life, living comes so naturally to me; its a precious gift like boobs… or rockets. I honestly believe that if you were ever attacked by a gorilla that you should just sit back and relax while you enjoy the once in a life time feeling of having each of your limbs ripped off.

“The saturated colors of nail polish and the reflective quality of lip gloss might compromise the Predator’s stealthy strategy to kill.”

True. But wouldn’t he look fabulous? :) :D

Be sure and check out all of Matt Andrews art in this piece – it’s AMAZING. Hard to pick a favorite, but the ones done with beauty products such as lipstick and nail polish are goddamned impressive!
