If you’re still feeling hesitant towards the upcoming Carrie remake, you might want to check out Marina de Van’s Dark Touch as it looks to have drawn some inspiration from Stephen King’s classic novel but with its own little touch. It’s not too often we get to see a kid leave a path of bloody destruction behind them so I’m all for giving this one a chance. Directed by In My Skin‘s Marina de Van, Dark Touch looks visually awesome and pretty damn intense. The first trailer for the film has dropped and while it starts out pretty generic and slow, it picks up steam about half way through and never lets up. With plenty of horror fans not so excited about the upcoming Carrie remake, Dark Touch looks like it could be a solid enough option.
At night, an isolated house deep in the countryside takes on a monstrous life of its own. Objects and furniture run riot against the inhabitants, leaving 11-year-old Neve the only survivor of a bloody massacre that destroys the bodies of her parents and culminates in the death of her little brother, Ciaran. Suspecting a gang of homicidal vandals, the police ignore Neve when she tries to tell them about the murderous rage of the house. She is taken in by friends of her parents who, with the help of a local social worker, try to ease her trauma by surrounding her with love and rebuilding the semblance of a normal life. But Neve doesn’t find peace. Far from it… All around her, signs of danger continue to manifest, and her surroundings remain imbued with a lurking violence that soon unleashes itself again, erupting into further slaughter and claiming more victims.
The thriller dives straight into the darkness that can possess a child’s heart and stars Missy Keating, Marcella Plunkett, Padraic Delaney, Robert Donnelly, and Charlotte Flyvholm. Look for the film in limited theaters and VOD on September 27th!
